Dr. Elizabeth Ramos Torres is a versatile violinist known for her artistry in both classical and mariachi music. Beginning her musical journey at the age of two through the Suzuki Method, Dr. Torres received her early training at renowned institutions including the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

 

Dr. Torres has performed extensively across the United States and Mexico, appearing in solo recitals, chamber concerts, and major orchestral performances. She has been a featured soloist with orchestras in concertos by Tchaikovsky, Wieniawski, Barber, and Lalo. Notably, she has premiered chamber works with the Sphinx Virtuosi Ensemble at Carnegie Hall and performed with the Missouri Symphony, Kingsbury Ensemble, and the Bach Society of Saint Louis at Powell Symphony Hall.

Her musical versatility has also led to collaborations beyond the classical stage, including performances with international pop artists Stevie Wonder and The Black Eyed Peas.

 

Dr. Torres holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance with an emphasis in Suzuki Pedagogy from the Hartt School of Music, and a Doctor of Music in Violin Performance from Florida State University College of Music. As an educator, she has served on the faculties of the Community Music School of Webster University, East Central College, and Greenville ISD Suzuki Strings.

A proud member of a large Mexican-American family, Dr. Torres grew up playing mariachi music alongside her classical studies. She continues to perform with mariachi ensembles nationwide, embracing her cultural heritage while inspiring the next generation of musicians.
